We began the day with learning about haigu poetry and creating our own based off a nature picture we found online. We then were given a scavenger hunt to complete while we were at Cox Arboretum. The scavenger hunt included going to the edible garden and tasting some of the plants, going up to the top of the Tree Tower and taking a picture (shown below), and finding a fish, amphibian, reptile, bird, mammal, and insect.

We got to Cox Arboretum an hour later than planned because the bus showed up an hour late. While we waited for the bus, my friends and I played four square and basketball. I definitely won at basketball.

Although it was raining almost the entire time, I was somehow able to find happiness with myself, just walking around and adventuring places I had never been. I have had a hard time being happy lately, and today, just being in nature, I was able to be happy despite the rain. While exploring, I took many pictures; most of them are of flowers. My favorite one is a planter that was full of succulents. I LOVE succulents. While I was trying to find butterflies in the butterfly habitat, I found a nest that was covered by what seemed like fur, inside a wooden bin. It started to move and I got slightly scared, but I took a stick and moved the fur away and it turned out to be mice babies that were nursing from the momma mouse.

My next adventure was going to the top of the Tree Tower. I loved being up there, the view of the trees was so pretty. It made me feel like I was back in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in my cabin, up in the mountains. The feeling was nostalgic, but not necessarily a bad feeling of nostoligia.

Overall, today was a very happy and successful day; from playing four square and basketball to adventuring around Cox Arboretum.
