This marks my first time ever going kayaking. I've only ever gone canoeing, which is always with a partner. I thought kayaking would be more difficult because of having to paddle on both sides, but it was way easier because there was a paddle on both ends of the ore. Another first for me was rope swinging into the river; we docked our kayaks on the river banks and then climbed up to the tree with the rope swing. I got to go twice, and it was so much fun - definitely something I will have to do again with my friends. Sadly, I wasn't able to picture the rope swinging moments.

(this is me getting into my kayak for the first time to start on the river)

The point of this STEMmersion was to learn how to live deliberately, and the task that we were given today was to listen deliberately - to focus on one sound and listen to it until all others were zoned out. The sound that I focused on was the wind. Although it was quiet and faint, if you ignored every other sound, it was easier to hear it. There were some times where the wind was stronger and louder than others

At the beginning of the day, we wrote a recipe poem for a body of water. I chose to write mine about a river and everything it has in it. We then watched a TedX video about...

Here is my poem:

To make a river, it takes 50 gallons of fresh water; combined with 12 gallons of rocks in a dry canal

Fish poured in one by one,

Tree logs in by the ton

50 quarts of algae are poured in

A few water snakes spread out,

Some turtles, without a doubt.

A strong current moving downstream,

The sun reflecting its glistening beams.

Let chill in the fresh air until water is cool,

Sprinkle leaves and twigs on top.

This day was probably my favorite of every day that we have done.
